The dark half of the year is upon us, with Samhain just around the corner. The weather is cooler, the days shorter and spiders spin their webs, wispy veils that remind us of how thin the veil grows this time of year.
At this time of year, witches gather to celebrate Samhain, one of Wicca’s, and most of the Pagan Community’s, most sacred times of the year. It is the final harvest of the year, and a celebration of death and those that have already passed beyond.
The Aquarian Tabernacle Church celebrates on the waters of the Puget Sound during the Hekate’s Sickle Festival. Witches will celebrate the cycles of life and death that occur within everyone’s life, many times over, from the loss of loved ones, to getting a new house, to starting a new career, and even dying ourselves.
This year we will be once again be following the winding paths through the majestic Pacific Northwest forest, and meeting up with Gods and Goddesses along the way. There will be three possible paths participants will choose; Greek, Celtic, or Hindu.
Each one will display sacred mysteries of the season, through three different gates. The first gate will be the guardian who will allow you onto the path. Mermaids, Selkies, and Naga. From there you will be taken through to two more gates. The last of which being the Living Shrines of the Sacred Goddesses of the Path. Hekate, Danu, and Kali Ma.
Immediately after the main ritual and the reconvening of the clans, there will be a ball, so wear your fancy dress to the ritual! We will celebrate together with our friends and family and ancestors with dancing and music, laughing and singing; with our spirits raised to the roof! We will also be having workshops scheduled with our Guest Presenters Rev. Alfred Willowhawk, and Rev. Willo Wellspring of Wite Ravyn – ATC. We are very lucky and honored to have them come to HSF, and share with us sacred mysteries of the Celtic Path.
We hope you will come and visit us as we transition into the dark half of the year. At this time of year, we have abundance. The crops are in, and the world is fertile. Samhain brings us the final harvest, and the time for those in the fields and abroad as we let our paths converge on the long roads back home, for winter. Blessed Be, and see you at Samhain!
